Aluminum oxide is a kind of inorganic material, chemical formula Al2O3, is a kind of high hardness compound, the melting point is 2054 ºC, boiling point is 2980 ºC, in the high temperature ionization of ionic crystals, commonly used in the manufacture of refractory materials.
Industrial alumina is prepared from bauxite (Al2O3-3H2O) and hard alumina, for the high purity requirements of Al2O3, generally prepared by chemical methods.Al2O3 has many homogeneous heterocrystals, known to be more than 10 kinds of, there are mainly three kinds of crystal type, namely, α-Al2O3, β-Al2O3, γ-Al2O3, which has different structure and different properties, and is almost completely converted to γ-Al2O3 when the high temperature is above 1300 ºC. At high temperatures above 1300°C, it is almost completely transformed into α-Al2O3.
