Product Description

Suoyi Factory Direct Sale Off-white Granular Powder Cordierite used as Industrial Filler

Cordierite comes from the Greek word Violet, meaning violet-colored, and Dichroite comes from the Greek word for "two-colored", referring to the stone's strong multicolor properties. Because cordierite has a blue color like sapphire, some people call it "water sapphire".

Cordierite is a silicate mineral that is usually light blue or light purple in color, glassy, and transparent to translucent. Cordierite is also characterized by a pronounced pleochroism (trichromaticity), emitting light of different colors in different directions. In addition to being used as a gemstone for its high quality and color, cordierite is commonly used as a honeycomb carrier material for automobile purifiers due to its good refractoriness and low thermal expansion. Cordierite is found in schist, gneiss and altered igneous rocks. People therefore also call cordierite a dichroic stone. Magnesia cordierite can be synthesized artificially for use in refractory materials. Raw cordierite typically weighs 4-5 carats, and larger ones have been found. Cordierite is usually cut into traditional shapes and the most popular color is blue-purple.
